Smartwatch web widget : not all clicks are passed to app

When using one of the widget examples in tizen studio, like AlarmWidget; or creating your own simple web widget that increases a counter when you press a button, then you run it on tizen emulator or Galaxy Watch, then you find that not all clicks the user does are being acted upon and trigger the onclick event handler.

AFAICS clicking is the sole interaction that a user can have with a widget, so this becomes an unreliability in a basic use case of widgets. Except for widgets that only show and can't be interacted, this is a problem.

Has anyone else witness this problem? How do you overcome it? Can the user interact another way with the widget (the bezel -- I think not, it's used to select which widget to show; the Back/Power buttons can't be used either I think)?
