Tizen Studio 1.2 causing issues on Macbook Pro Touch Bar with macOS Sierra 10.12.6

After fresh install when I launch Tizen Studio, the touch bar turns black and stops responding, the process "loginwindow" is not responding with all the bad consequences and the the only way how to get macbook back to the operation is the forced restart!

I have JDK 1.8.0_144-b01 installed.

I would appreciate any hint how to resolve this issue.

Hi,

in some user forum found that sometimes new Mac touch bar had some issues happend like you when they install / run new application. may be it's not issue of JDK.

some of them suggested to refresh the touch bar can solve, you can follow the following guides, may be it helpful for you.

- Launch Terminal from Spotlight Search
- Enter following commands in the Terminal;

          pkill "Touch Bar agent"

- Now hit the Enter key and to Quit to Refresh touch bar.

Thanks.

Hi,

i'm having the same problem.

I tried the pkill command, without success, the touch bar doesn't restart, and even if i try to restart the computer, it turns black, and freeze there.

The only way is to do a hard reset.

Any other idea?

Ivan, thx to assure I am not the only one with this issue and that it is not related my hw/sw only, I wil we post on my findings further..

Hi s arefin,

thx for hint, this I did exactly as the first thing, but didn't help. I am sure this issue is related to the Tizen Studio, I have nevere experienced such issue with any other application. Lost of the touch bar is one of the consequences, another bad thing that I have noticed: macbook is not waking up ater putting on sleep as well as the restart ends with black screen and the only way how to reboot is the force restart (holding power button down). After reboot everything is working fine again untill the next launch of  Tizen Studio. I would like to narrow down the root cause of this issue, any hints would be highly appreciated. I have installed the Eclipse + CDT version that I guess the Tizen Studio use (4.5) and it works fine - none of the issues experienced. Thus I guess it is either Tizen Studio + JVM-related or caused by some of the tizen plugins.. I conclude from the symptoms that Tizen Studio impacts system badly on the very low level.

Any hints..?

Hi Lubos,

i was doing some investigation, probably is nothing, or wrong, but apparently the touch bar disappear as soon the sdb process comes up.

And apparently, when i close tize studio, that process is still around ( i have to kill it manually).

But unfortunately this doesn't bring back the touch bar. Another thing i noticed is that the touch bar disappear nearly at the end of loading process of tizen studio, so probably could be during the plugin loading? I noticed that there are several eclipse services launched by tizen studio, a good start could be to disable all of them and check if the problem pesist (i'll try to do it later probably). (they are in somewhere in Tizen Studio preferences, sorry but at the moment i can't start tizen studio, i need the touch bar :P)

But apart from that, i can't figure out any other hint. And maybe everything i wrote above doesn't have anything to do with the issue, and it's only a coincidence.

when I upgrade to High Sierra , it's working

Great to know that it's working with macOS upgrade. So, High Sierra you upgraded to is 10.12.x? What is the last digit for the Sierra version?

Lubos Ilcik

After upgrading to High Sierra (10.13) and reinstalling Tizen Studio the issues are not happening :-).

Noted High Sierra 10.13. Thanks.
